PERSIK’S LAND : specific area and breeding methods

Persik’s Land breeding.

Alauze breeding-large desertic areas

By demanding a “Label de Terroir” – Area Label – our association of breeders wants to point out the importance of the specific diet of their horses.

The fact that they feed on the flora of the Grands causses – with its special mineral qualities – has a positive effect on the density of their organic tissues (bones, muscles, tendons) which is of great importance for high quality endurance horses.

Moreover, because of the dry climate and high altitude of the area where they are bred, the horses’ hearts and lungs are stronger. The extensive way of breeding on wide steppes with a single waterhole encourages a better resistance to dehydration in competition, one of the major qualities required for endurance.

Other important qualities needed for this top level competition are also developed by our way of breeding.
